How To Clean Mouse Pads

Mouse pads are a common computer accessory. Naturally, they need to be cleaned when they get dirty; since they are items that computer users frequently touch, they inevitably accumulate grime over time. Under a microscope, one would see a multitude of bacteria-a rather alarming thought. So, are our mouse pads actually that dirty? The answer is a definite yes.
1. When cleaning rubber-based mouse pads with fabric surfaces, avoid using excessive force or wringing them out. Instead, lay the pad flat, apply a small amount of dish soap, and gently rub it with your hands.
2. For mouse pads with silicone wrist rests, soak the pad in water and apply dish soap. Use a soft-bristled brush to gently scrub the raised wrist rest area. The flat surface of the mouse pad generally does not get very dirty, so it does not require vigorous scrubbing during cleaning.
